Student Life

When you join the Academy you will immediately find yourself embraced by a strong community of fellow students, grads and staff who share your passion for dogs and for making the lives of dogs better by being the best trainer and behavior expert you can be. And we have plenty of fun along the way.  In the meantime, watch our Academy dogs perform in ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.”

Dogs, Dogs, Dogs

We are friendly, fun-loving, supportive and determined to trounce each other in any fun competition or skills challenge set before us, whether in the Academy online Cafe or in our many in person meetups big and small in cities around the U.S. and abroad.

For people thinking about joining the Academy, I’d just say this: Sometimes the most challenging journeys are the most rewarding.

Gloating Winners

All is fair in love and war. Academy Award winners typically gloat in a distinctly unattractive manner.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

The most important event on the Academy calendar for students and grads alike is the annual Academy Awards competition.

The elections are filled with double dealing, bribery and corruption. Academy students inevitably reveal themselves to be unscrupulous, venous individuals for whom there is no bottom to which they will not sink to grasp the prize. It’s a repellant yet strangely gripping spectacle.

Join the Academy A dog trainer community like no other

We live at a time when dogs are routinely subjected to harsh training techniques by incompetent trainers who know no other way to get results and inevitably create more problems over the long run. This can take its toll on trainers like us who are often called in to mop up the damage. Having a supportive community is crucial to maintaining longevity in the profession and protecting your mental well-being.
