Are you considering turning your love of dogs into a career as a dog trainer but are not sure you’re ready for the Academy’s flagship professional program? We have created this course for you. It gives you a flavor of the key concepts involved in dog training and the way this information is conveyed in Academy.
Working in a shelter or rescue is rewarding, but presents unique challenges. Topics in this course include reading play and screening dogs for playgroups, behavior evaluation research, modifying food guarding and other behaviors, enrichment, fostering, dogs and the homeless, and compassion fatigue.
The ability to counsel clients effectively is not something that always comes naturally. You will learn how to shape your client’s skills, bust myths more effectively, and learn invaluable techniques to effectively support and communicate with your clients, helping to increase your success rate.
Our premier, professional dog trainer course is our Certificate in Training and Counseling (CTC). Throughout the course, you’ll explore two primary themes: understanding how animals learn, and mastering techniques to modify their behavior. From training manners and life skills to navigating nuanced behavior issues, including fear and aggression, our curriculum covers a broad spectrum of topics rarely, if ever, covered in other courses. And you’ll be supported as you take on all kinds of cases.
We stand firmly behind or core principles. There is no room in our unregulated field for obfuscation. We commit to being absolutely transparent with clients as to how we will help their dogs.
