The Academy started life as a residential program at the San Francisco SPCA and rapidly gained a reputation as the best school for dog trainers in the U.S. Jean later re-invented the curriculum to incorporate a pioneering form of video coaching and to allow for the continuous incorporation of the latest research in training and behavior.
Since its formation the Academy has trained and certified some 900 trainers in evidence-based dog behavior, training, and private behavior counseling. Jean remains the school’s principal instructor.
Jean has long been a trailblazer in the world of dog training. Jean has authored many other books and lectured extensively all around the world. She is the go-to trainer for other trainers looking for guidance or case support and spent six years handling only aggression cases referred by other trainers.
Jean and dogs she has trained have earned numerous titles in dog sports, including OTCh (Obedience Trial Champion), UD (Utility Dog), TDX (Tracking Dog Excellent), FDCh (Flyball Champion), CGC (Canine Good Citizen) and HIT (High in Trial).
